“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” – Margaret J. Wheatley

We are more connected now than ever before; we have the world at our fingertips – yet many communities are missing the mark, and missing the opportunity to connect authentically. The process of building a consensus among people of diverse backgrounds and cultures to share goals and ideas is critical in today’s environment, inclusion is the key to building healthy communities and environments.

Communities can only make progress if they work together in close collaboration to enact solutions that allow for economic growth and development while making the right choices for the environment and offering a level playing field across the board for all stakeholders. People want their local leaders to work with them to address challenges like transit, impacts to water quality, affordable housing, workforce development, and climate change.

At Capital Strategic Solutions, we work with cities and towns to inspire individuals to take an active role in their community, to be a part of the decision-making process, and to have ownership in projects, programs, and services that shape their neighborhoods. We work with community leaders to plan events, activities, and gatherings that allow for community connections either in person or virtually to have wide-ranging discussions about the recovery of their downtown corridors, solutions to solving both short-term and long-term transportation and water quality issues, focus on housing development, work-force strategies, and craft long-range capital plans with a focus on infrastructure and community improvements that incorporate climate change and resiliency.

With the influx of funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, also called the COVID-19 Stimulus Package and the newly signed bipartisan infrastructure bill – it is critically important that all members of a community have a seat at the table and the opportunity to weigh in on where and how this funding is put to use. Community stakeholders will be looking to their leaders to educate them on the guidelines of these funding opportunities and engage them in open dialogue about what projects, programs, and services can move forward and have the greatest impact on their residents, businesses, neighborhoods, and cities and towns as a whole.

We work with community leaders to provide residents and businesses with the information they need to drive a strong inclusive recovery for their cities and towns through collaboration, open dialogue, and transparent communications. Civic engagement will drive solutions that have the potential to improve the quality of life for all stakeholders and provide a flourishing future for generations to come.
